International collaborations and student-exchange partnership several global universities:

 Students with a consistently sound academic record can avail several internal-student exchange programs made available through MIC’s tie-ups with universities in Netherlands, Australia, Germany, Netherlands, France, Czechoslovakia. Through the exchange program, every year, select number of MIC students spend a semester at these partner universities and students from there come to MIC for a semester.

 

Community Radio station

 Radio Manipal, MAHE’s community radio allows student-led programming for the local community of listeners.

 

Sound studio, TV studio, Editing Lab

Students at MIC get practical training in audio-visual content production in MIC’s in-house separate Sound and TV studios using modern gadgets and equipments which includes digital mixers, cameras, lighting equipments, workstations for post-production activities, vision mixer consoles and more.

 

Hands-on training & live projects

In line with MAHE’s culture of promoting student entrepreneurship, MIC’s student Entrepreneur Cell encourages student-led business initiatives in media and entertainment sector. Through this arrangement, industrious students get the opportunity to earn while they learn.

 

Campus newspaper

Both B.A Media and Communication and M.A Media and Communication students will take turns to produce the college’s weekly newspaper, AM Plus, over the course of their third and second semesters respectively. As part of this activity students will work in different departments from the editorial to advertising & marketing to gain insights about news production in the print industry.

 

Interdisciplinary research

At Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal, research is a key activity. The college houses a Media Research Centre as well as Student Research Forum. Through this, the college develops and supports critical inquiry of issue related to media. At MIC, more than half teaching faculty have either completed PhD or enrolled in a PhD program. Their areas of research are multidisciplinary and manifold. The Indian edition of the Global Media Journal is published from here.
