Overview
BSc in Medical Imaging Technology program is suitable for students seeking to expand their horizons and pursue a career field related to medical research & development or technological research in companies that lead to a breakthrough in diagnostic imaging.
Upon completion of this program, students will not only acquire a broad & detailed knowledge in medical imaging which help them be a new generation radiologic technologist, but also will have the opportunity to develop important practical skills in organising radiological department.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES
- BSc in MIT graduates have the opportunity to pursue Masters and can specialise in any of the Imaging modalities
- The graduates are work as Imaging Technologists in Hospitals with Radio diagnostic facilities both in public and private sectors
- The graduates have joined as Application specialists in Medical Imaging Equipment companies such as GE Health care, Philips, Seimens, etc.
- The graduates also had got the teaching positions in educational institutions in India and abroad and pursing research activities in Medical Imaging Technology.
Assessment
- The annual university examinations for all the 1st year allied health science UG programs will be conducted in the month of May/June. Students who are declared unsuccessful in this examination can appear for the supplementary exam which will be conducted 6 weeks after the declaration of 1st year results. This 6 week post result supplementary exam will be conducted only for the first year students
- Students unsuccessful in the regular/ supplementary exams will not be allowed to attend the second year classes. They will have to attend the failed subjects of the first year again by paying casual term fee with fresh attendance (75% minimum requirement) and internal marks for the next university examination in May/ June
- Once they clear all the subjects of the first year, only then they will be allowed to join the second year classes
- There is no limit to the number of attempts for each subject. However, there will be only two examinations in a year, one in May/June and the other is the supplementary in August for the 1st year and December/January for others
- From the second year onwards, students with unsuccessful attempts or back papers are permitted to attend the classes with the regular students until the end of the program.
However, they will not be permitted to appear for the third year examination until the completion of all second year papers.
- Second year onwards, the supplementary examination will be in the month of December/January
- Second year onwards, the improvement sessional will be conducted only for the unsuccessful students in the failed subjects
- Students can commence their internship only after the completion of all final year papers.
Note:
- The students on current roll will be permitted to continue in their existing year; however, they will have to complete all the 1st year subjects before they appear for second year examination
- For the first year students, university exams will not be conducted in December as they have the benefit of 6 week post result examination
- This carry over rules supersede earlier notification.
Grading system
The grading system is as follows:
- Distinction: 75% and above
- First class: 65% and above
- Second class: 50% and above
- Pass: 50%
- Fail: Below 50%
Award of Degree
The candidate shall be awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology on successful completion of final year examination and internship.
Course Duration
The course consists of three years of academic program plus one year of internship.
INTERNSHIP
A student after having successfully completed the final year university examination is qualified to commence the Compulsory Rotatory Internship. The completion of Internship is mandatory to enable a student to obtain the degree of Bachelor of Medical Imaging Technology.
