Background

Fintech (Financial Technology) is the adoption of variety of technological developments such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, data analytics, application programming interfaces to the financial products and services such that it improves and mechanizes the application of financial services. With the Government’s focus to make India $5 trillion economy, a strong financial system becomes importance to realize this goal. With the service sector contributing more than 50 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the Indian context and the revolution in terms of digital payments, mergers of the banks, the demand for the qualified workforce is the need of the hour.

 

Program Description

MIT, Manipal is the first and the only institute that offers the Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Financial Technology program in India.  This program is delivered through the three Departments at MIT, Manipal:  Department of Humanities and Management jointly with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and the Department of Mathematics. This is a unique program as it mixes the course contents providing the graduates of this program to emerge with a deep theoretical knowledge and a strong practical training in Computer Science, Financial Technology and Mathematical domains. The program provides the graduates to be industry ready focusing on Fintech: Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets.

With the heightened need for engineers with a sound knowledge in the three domain areas: Computer Science, Mathematics and Finance, the course has the following objectives:.

  • To prepare the students interested to pursue a Career in FinTech with Fintech Domain/Technology Knowledge.
  • To create a competent student talent pool with the basic and practical skills relevant for FinTech Industry.
