Overview

M.E in Microelectronics and VLSI Technology at MSIS, Manipal, is a two-year, AICTE-approved, industry-oriented postgraduate degree program. The Microelectronics and VLSI Technology program aims at imparting the knowledge and enhancing the skill sets required to work in the rapidly growing VLSI Design industries and Govt. of India’s initiative to create a Microelectronics and VLSI Technology hub using semiconductor ecosystem.

Students are taught how to use industry standard Electronic Design Automation tools such as Cadence, Intel FPGA, and Altera to design, verify, characterize, and IC packaging of integrated circuits that meet specified design constraints and specifications. The program is motivated by Semi-conductor Laboratory, an autonomous body under Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.

Career Prospects

Adequate knowledge is given to design and develop both digital and analog ICs that are optimized for speed, performance, and power. Students are introduced to VLSI Fabrication Technology, various CAD methods in the development, device characterization, and packaging integrated circuits. This makes them equally competent for both the VLSI design and Microelectronics. Interested students can also do research.
