Dr. Maitreyee Mishra
Associate Professor
Dr. Maitreyee Mishra is currently the co-chair of the Environment, Science and Risk Communication section of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). Her research interests are deeply interdisciplinary and include the anthropology of climate change, Indigenous studies, environmental sustainability, as well as climate/ environmental communication, and film studies. Dr. Mishra is the co-editor of the book ‘The Local and the Digital in Environmental Communication’ published by Springer/Palgrave (2020), which she worked on with colleagues from the universities of Barcelona (Spain), Antwerp (Belgium), Umea (Sweden) and Griffith (Australia). Dr. Mishra’s work has been published in journals such as Animation, Asian Journal of Communication, Media Asia as well as in several books that include the Routledge Book of Environmental Journalism (edited by David Sachsman and Jo An Valenti, 2020). Dr. Mishra has also worked with several Indian and international organisations working on environment, water and natural resource governance. She has also served as an examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).

Qualification: PhD in Environmental Anthropology from Heidelberg University, Germany. MSc in Development from University of Reading, UK.
CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
I have taught a range of subjects at the MA, BA and MAF levels, which includes global communication, political science, development communication, film theory and criticism, and modern world history. I have served as the faculty coordinator of the NEEM club from 2010 onwards.
