The Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (CVT) at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, MAHE, is designed to train you to operate and manage advanced cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, with focus on diagnosing cardiac and vascular disorders through imaging and monitoring tools, with clinical exposure at Kasturba Hospital.

You can gain expertise in cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and electrophysiology, focusing on real-time patient monitoring, interventional assistance, and bridging clinical cardiology with technical proficiency.

Program Highlights

In-Depth Clinical Experience: Our CVT program offers extensive clinical exposure through a year-long internship at a tertiary care hospital with access to advanced cardiac labs and monitoring systems.

Expert Faculty Mentorship: All our faculty members hold postgraduate degrees, many are pursuing or have completed PhDs, ensuring that you obtain high-quality teaching and research guidance.

Applied and Research-Based Learning: We provide a concentrated simulator-based practice, direct patient handling, and a mandatory thesis/project that helps you to strengthen your practical and research skills.

Multi-disciplinary focus: Our program is designed with an interdisciplinary approach where cardiac instrumentation is taught by biomedical engineering experts along with combined learning with allied health and medical students for a deeper understanding of cardiovascular care.

Cardiac demonstration lab with cardiac / imaging related models and mannequins. Echocardiography Lab, ECG lab and pacemaker lab is available for hands-on practice.

Advanced Training

Workshops and CME (Continuing Medical Education) programs conducted by hospitals and industry experts on advanced cardiovascular techniques such as TAVR, CRT, and electrophysiology.

Mandatory 1-year clinical internship.

Program Eligibility

QUALIFICATION

Indian Boards

You must have successfully completed 10+2 or an equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as compulsory subjects, with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in PCB.

A Levels

You must have successfully completed A Levels with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the A Level, English at the AS Level, and obtained a in PCB.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

You must have successfully completed the IB Diploma or IB Certificate with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with minimum Grade D average and an average of at least 4 points in PCB and an overall minimum of 24 points. You must also have: • A minimum of 3 points in each subject • 3 Higher Level (HL) and 3 Standard Level (SL) subjects • At least 2 science subjects at HL • The third science subject and English may be taken at either HL or SL

You must appear for MET 2027 and secure the required cutoff.

Continuation of Scholarship

The award of Fee Waiver for the subsequent years will be the same as given at the time of admission in the first year. Scholarship will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual program fee. Students who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades, will NOT be eligible for fee waiver for that academic year. Fee Waiver will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.

Withdrawal Policy

In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST reimburse the total program fee (as per Prospectus 2025) for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal.

Upon completion of this program, you can:

Demonstrate proficiency in operating cardiovascular diagnostic equipment, including ECG, echocardiography, Holter monitors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems.

Assist and support interventional cardiology procedures, including coronary angiography, angioplasty, and pacemaker/ICD implantation.

Analyse diagnostic data, perform stress tests, and manage emergency cardiac care with BLS/ACLS and critical patient monitoring.

Uphold patient safety, ethical standards, and confidentiality in all clinical and research activities.
