The M.Sc. (Medical) in Biochemistry at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), MAHE Manipal, is a two-year postgraduate program spread across four semesters.

The program provides in-depth understanding of the chemical nature, structure, function, synthesis, and degradation of biomolecules, enabling students to explain cellular and molecular processes underlying development, health, and disease. The curriculum integrates academics, research exposure, and diagnostic orientation, preparing graduates for diverse roles in medical education, research, and biotechnology.

Lab Work

gain hands-on‑ experience in biochemical laboratory techniques including enzymatic assays, metabolic studies, molecular biology methods, and analytical procedures relevant to clinical and research biochemistry.

Research Projects

Participate in faculty guided‑ research projects in biochemical, molecular, or translational domains, culminating in a mandatory postgraduate dissertation and academic presentations.

Clinical Training

Undertake structured academic and research exposure through laboratory postings, interdisciplinary electives, and supervised research activities, building readiness for teaching, research, diagnostics, and higher academic training.

Program Eligibility

You must have successfully completed B.Sc. with minimum one subject in Biological Sciences/ B.Sc. Nursing/ B.Sc. in Allied Health Sciences/ BAMS/ MBBS/ BHMS/ BPT/ B.Pharm from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks or equivalent

You must appear for MET 2027 and secure the required cutoff Admission Process and attend physical/ online counselling

UG: 80% aggregate in 12th (as per admission criteria) PG: 70% aggregate in Undergraduate (UG)

Continuation of Scholarship

The award of Fee Waiver for the subsequent years will be the same as given at the time of admission in the first year. Scholarship will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual program fee. Students who are promoted to next year with failures (F) / Incomplete (I) / Detention (DT) grades, will NOT be eligible for fee waiver for that academic year. Fee Waiver will be forfeited in the instances of irregularity in attendance, proven charges of indiscipline, bringing disrepute to the Department / Institution / University etc.

Withdrawal Policy

In case the candidate leaves the course before the course completion (for any reason), he / she MUST reimburse the total program fee (as per Prospectus 2025) for the years of scholarship utilized, back to MAHE Manipal.
