A flagship Policy Summit of academia and industry interface

As India is paving its path to become a 5 Trillion economy by 2030, we are witnessing a significant growth in our economy and social structures. In this journey, technology will play a crucial role, and it is critical for us to be prepared for the seamless adoption of technology in various sectors. Artificial Intelligence, in particular, will play a significant role and we, as a country, envision becoming a global leader in contributing to the field. 

While pushing the boundaries of innovation, there is a need to introduce efficient regulation and governance mechanisms for an unhindered boost to technology. Every innovation will bring economic, social, cultural and ethical challenges along with it, and effective governance mechanisms can ensure the faster growth of technology, while protecting the rights of our citizens. 

With the goal to discuss laws and regulations which support the sustainable development of technology, Manipal Law School is launching its flagship event where MLS will visit  provide a platform for industrialists and professionals to discuss the adoption of AI in their sectors, along with the challenges and suggestions.  

At MLS, we believe that it is indeed our duty to initiate this discussion, collate ideas for the practical implementation of the technology and the governing law, and present our recommendations to the legislators and regulators. 

The Summit will be in the form of a series of industry-academia round table discussion sessions in Mumbai and Delhi, ending with a 1 day policy summit in Bengaluru, the Silicon Valley of India. In Bengaluru, all discussions taken place during the round table sessions will be collated and discussed from a holistic approach towards governance and regulation. 

Mission: To understand the practical aspects of adopting AI in different fields, the challenges involved and propose solutions to overcome the challenges.   

Output: The final output of this Summit will be a report wherein all challenges and suggestions received from the industry will be highlighted, along with recommendations for regulation and governance of AI. This report will be officially submitted to different regulatory bodies and ministries for due consideration in the framing of AI laws and regulations
