Pharmacy students at the 16th Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium, Bangkok

Participation of students in conferences creates opportunities for reflection and engagement in building confidence. Bharat Arora from second year BPharm, Samriddhi Kamath, a third PharmD student and Aman Shah in third BPharm of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal University attended the 16th Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium (APPS) held during 21st to 27th July 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand. APPS Symposium is an event held by the IPSF Asia Pacific Regional Office (IPSF APRO). This congress is held annually for pharmacy students in the Asia Pacific Region, to join, learn about pharmaceutical education and spend a great time together. The trio represented MAPS (Manipal Association of Pharmaceutical Students), MCOPS in the 18th regional assembly during APPS and presented the annual report on the activities and events conducted by various committees of MAPS such as World Pharmacists Day, Pharmaquora, and World Cancer Day. The regional assembly accepted the report and applauded MAPS for the quantum and quality of work carried during 2016-17.

They also participated in workshops and symposium that included talks on immunotherapy, chemotherapy and basic life support to name a few. Apart from workshops and symposiums, they attended theme nights like the ‘International Night’ (participated in the auction and given an opportunity to present the culture and taste of India). They also cherished the culture and delicacies of Thailand.
