CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Dr Lena Ashok is  a Professor, MSW Program, Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal.  She has more than 16 years experince in academia. She has been awarded PhD from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal on the topic “ Effectiveness of health education on knowledge and attitude of adolescent girls towards reproductive health” in the year 2006. She has a vast experience working for projects in collaboration with corporate, Government  & NGO's. 

She  has field experience for over 20 years focusing on maternal, child adolescent health. She has been involved in PG teaching and guiding research scholars for their doctoral programs and a member of Doctoral advisory Committee.  She is coordianotor for PhD programme, PSPH

She has been a resource person for various workshops on counselling and life skill education to adolescents and Training of Teachers. She has been part of coordinating and implementing community health programmes, developing modules, building partnerships with various stakeholders and liaising at district and state level. She was member BOS for Bachelor's Programmes & PG programmes. She is involved in the curriculum development of the MSW Programme in various universities. She has been PI and Co-PI in various projects funded by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). She has more than 30 publications in reputed national and international journals. She has served as PhD Coordinator at PSPH, MAHE, Manipal.
