SILVER JUBILEE & ORIENTATION EVENTS AT ICAS, MANIPAL

International Center for Applied Sciences (ICAS), a constituent unit of MAHE, Manipal offering 2+2 twinning program in Engineering, is celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2019. ICAS, with its unique advantages, is the ideal platform for Indian students to obtain international degrees with tremendous opportunities to develop their careers abroad. 

The Silver Jubilee Function was formally inaugurated by the distinguished Chief Guest, Her Excellency Susan Grace, Australian Consul-General of India, in the Dr. T M A Pai Auditorium, Manipal on August 03, 2019 evening. Mrs. Vasanthi R. Pai, First Lady of MAHE & Trustee, MAHE Trust and Dr. H Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor of MAHE graced the occasion as Guests of Honor. Dr. H S Ballal, Pro Chancellor of MAHE presided over this momentous event. Dr. Radhakrishna S. Aithal, Director of ICAS welcomed the august gathering. Dr. Ganesha A, Associate Director proposed the vote of thanks. 

Chief Guest of the function, Ms. Susan Grace emphasized the salient advantages of International Transfer Program and the need of global exposure to students for being successful in the professional field today. She focused on strengthening bilateral relations between India and Australia to promote higher education opportunities for Indian students, in the leading universities of Australia.

Dr. H Vinod Bhat talked about the Visionary Founder, Dr. T M A Pai, Origin of ICAS twinning program, Advantages of Manipal Education, multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural opportunities available for the students to prosper at Manipal. Dr. H S Ballal appreciated the support from various leading foreign universities in realizing the vision & mission of MAHE and congratulated ICAS for the successful journey over the last 25 years. 

A short video film on the growth of ICAS was displayed. Ex-Directors, Dr. Raghuvir Pai B & Dr. Alapati Vittaleswar and a few distinguished alumni of ICAS namely Mr. Abhay Mahajan, Mr. Anshul Mittal, Mr. Arpit Chaudhary, Mr. Gokul Jain, Mr. Saurabh Sangla, Mr. Sidharth Bhargava, and Ms. Devi Murthy were honored on the occasion. Ms. Shantala D. Pai was the Master of Ceremony. 

More than 20 foreign (partner) universities’ delegates attended this milestone event, namely Australian National University, Australia; Deakin University, Australia; University of Queensland, Australia; RMIT University, Australia; University of New South Wales, Australia; University of Technology Sydney, Australia; Queensland University of Technology, Australia; Andrews University, USA; Drexel University, USA; Colorado State University, USA; Wayne State University, USA; University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA; University of Kentucky, USA; Illinois Institute of Technology, USA; Wright State University, USA; Leicester University, UK; City University, UK; Strathclyde University, UK; Lancaster University, UK; Manchester Metropolitan University, UK;  ESIGELEC, France and University College Cork, Ireland. 

On 4thAugust 2019, Orientation Program was held with Director of ICAS, Director of Student Affairs, MAHE and Chief Warden of MIT/ICAS Hostels making series of presentations on the topics like academic activities & support, student welfare measures, hostel facilities & regulations. This was followed by audio-visual presentations by the delegates from foreign universities on their collaborative academic programs and prospects of credit transfer. In the afternoon, One to One Interaction Sessions were arranged with all the foreign universities participated and some Education Promotion Agencies, for the benefit of all students of ICAS.
