CME on “Experience the Advances in Teaching and Research in Embryology”

As part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of Kasturba Medical College, the Department of Anatomy, KMC, Mangalore conducted a CME on “Experience the Advances in Teaching and Research in Embryology” on October 5, 2013. The programme was inaugurated by Dr K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr Surendra V Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Mangalore Campus and Dr M Venkatraya Prabhu, Dean, KMC Mangalore. Dr Vasudha V Saralaya, Professor and HOD of Anatomy, KMC, Mangalore welcomed the gathering. Dr Sampath Madhyastha, Additional Professor, Department of Anatomy, KMC, Mangalore proposed the vote of thanks.

Dr Latha V Prabhu, Professor, Department of Anatomy, KMC, Mangalore, Dr. Balasubramanyam, Professor of Anatomy, St. Johns Medical College, Bangalore, Dr Girish K.M. Professor in Paediatrics & Consultant Geneticists, KMC, Manipal, Dr Guruprasad Kaltur, Associate Professor, Clinical Embryology, KMC, Mangalore and Dr Madhavan Nampoothiri, Assistant Professor, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal were the resource persons and delivered  talks on Teaching embryology – present and future. Effective use of multimedia in teaching embryology, Genetic basis of congenital anomalies-what is required for IMBBS students, Research avenues in clinical embryology and animal model for teratogenic studies respectively. Scientic sessions were followed by Quiz competition for Post graduate students and poster presentation. Dr Latha V Prabhu was the moderator for the Quiz.

Over 200 delegates attended the programme including faculty members and Post graduates from Medical Colleges of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Karnataka Medical Council has granted 2 credit hours for the CME.
