Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal has organized an essay writing competition in the month of June 2021 for the students of nursing education institutions of Udupi District on the theme “Say No to Single-Use Plastic”.  A total of ten essays were received. Students have narrated about the effects of plastic on the environment, the rationale for stopping the single-use plastic and creative thoughts and ideas on strategies to stop the use of single-use plastic. Essays written by Ms Helena Maria Prasad, first-year BSc Nursing of  Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and by  Ms Thrupthi, First Year GNM student of Vidhyarathna School of Nursing of Udupi were awarded as best essays.

This activity was conducted as instructed by University Grant Commission (UGC) vide its Circular dated 7^th June 2021 in order to achieve the objective of elimination of single-use plastic and was coordinated by Mrs Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal.
