Symposium on ‘Categories of Nursing Personnel’

Department of Fundamentals of Nursing organized a Symposium on 27/9/2022 at 3 pm on the topic ‘Categories of Nursing Personnel’ at Lecture Hall 2, 3rd floor, Basic Science Building. Resource Persons were Ms. Cerene Elza Mathew, Mr. Nithin Vinod, Mr. Joel Chacko Reji, and Ms. Rosemi Ann Reji from the First semester of BSc Nursing. Ms. Jennifer Mary Joseph moderated the session.

The students said the Nursing profession has made significant progress towards developing a body of scientific knowledge in nursing practice, a change in response to consumer demand, and involvement of new technology in the healthcare delivery system and policies.

Students expressed their thought on the expanded and extended role of Nurses. They said an expanded role of nursing is one in which a nurse assumes expanded or increased responsibilities in the practice area and in most cases practices with greater authority.

Extended care facilities are becoming the popular means of managing the healthcare needs of patient who requires additional care.

The symposium was concluded with an open discussion and clarification. A total of 133 First Semester BSc Nursing students were the beneficiaries.
