World Heart Day - 2022

World heart day is observed every year on the 29th of September. It is an opportunity for everyone to stop and consider how best to use heart for humanity, nature, and for everyone. The theme for World Heart Day this year is 'Use heart for every heart '.

World heart day was observed by the faculty of the Department of Community Health Nursing and students of final year B.Sc. Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal on 23rd September 2022 from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at Community Health Centre, Brahmavar.

The program began with a welcome speech by Mr. Puneeth Shetty, a final year BSc nursing student. Followed by Ms. Shruthi, a final year BSc nursing student gave an introductory speech on the importance of world heart day. Dr. Ajith Kumar, AMO, CHC Brahmavar addressed the audience about World Heart Day, causes of heart diseases, and management of heart diseases followed by a speech by Dr. Mahabala, a Pediatrician about heart diseases among children. Dr.Pratheep, Dentist shared his knowledge on heart day.

Mr. Puneeth and the team performed a role play in light of world heart day and conveyed an important message to the crowd assembled. Dr.Ajith Kumar with Mr. Rakesh Datta and Dr. Ansuya B. Asst.Prof. Dept of Community Health Nursing, MCON, and Mr. Shyamchand, II Year MSc nursing student, demonstrated the Cardiopulmonary resuscitation procedure and clarified the doubts raised.

There were about 60 participants, including 32 ASHA workers, and the patients. Mr. Puneeth proposed the vote of thanks and concluded the programme. The students of MCON distributed fruits to the IPD patients and the participants. The overall programme was guided and supported by Mr. Rakesh Datta, Lecturer, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal.
