Kargil Digvijaya Day – Tribute to Martyrs at Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal

Five hundred twenty-seven seeds of Shritale/Talipot palm (Corypha umbraculifera) were disbursed in the memory of martyrs and armed forces of Kargil to mark the event where soldiers bravely defended our motherland India (Vande Mataram).

Commander Dr. Anil Rana, Director, and Dr Somasekara Bhat, Joint Director of Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, planted a palm tree (Sritale) sapling which is red-listed in the world and is on the verge of extinction.

Naturalist, Eco-Activist Prof SA Krishnaiah handed over 527 Talipot palm seeds (in Bio-Trove) in honor of Kargil Digwijay Day said, Green India Vision-Eco-Studies Movement to Save Earth Planet, and Accept The Greenery (Oppiko Pacchevanasiri Abhiyan) for reforestation of Kargil-Forest or Vandemataram Forest in State. Added that every year Mr. Krishnaiah and Tree Care team will give the nut seeds of many trees to educational institutes and religious centers across the globe. He gave a drawing (line sketch) with a message about environmental protection written on palm leaf. "Hasuru Honna Bithona Jagadagala" (let's grow plants and trees across the globe).

. Dr. Raghavendra Holla, Associate Professor, Civil Department, MIT, Mr. Rathnakar Samath, Chief Security Officer MIT, and  Ms.Musica Supriya, Assistant Professor senior scale from the CSE department, were present.
