State Level Workshop on Water Conservation When: — Where: Category:

A state level Workshop on Water Conservation was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering MIT Manipal on 30th and 31st May 2017. Totally 146 members from 18 districts of Karnataka State participated in the workshop. 

 

Mr. Kishore Alva, Joint President of Adani Power, Udupi was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function, which was held on 30th May 2017.     The second revised edition of ‘Bunds’ research and Varanashi Model was released by Dr. G.K. Prabhu, Director, MIT and Pro-Vice Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education on this occasion. Dr. Mohandas Chadaga, H.O.D Civil Engineering department welcomed the gathering. Smt. Sughandhini, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering compered the programme.

 

Dr. Prakash Bhat, Dharwad; Shri Shiva Kumar, Bengaluru; Dr. Arun Kumar, Thirthahalli; Dr. Varanashi Krishna Murthy, Adyanadka; Dr. Udaya Shankar, MIT and Dr. Narayana Shenoy, MIT were the resource persons. Reasons for water scarcity, role of various organizations and NGOs to mitigate the drought effects and future plans were discussed during the two days’ deliberation. 

 

Dr. Anand A.S, former Chairman of Organic Mission Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the concluding session. Dr. Gopinath Nayak and Dr. Jagadheesha Pai, Associate Professors, Department of Civil Engineering were the Conveners of the workshop.
