1.  Free-Ship and Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship

 

1.1 MBBS and BDS

The MBBS program is being offered by Manipal Academy of Higher Education through its constituent premier institutions, namely, Kasturba Medical College, at Manipal and Mangalore, while the BDS program is offered by Manipal College of Dental Sciences at Manipal and Mangalore. We are pleased to inform that the following scholarships are offered to top performing students in NEET examinations, admitted to MBBS and BDS programs at Manipal and Mangalore campuses

Candidates who have secured NEET all India Overall Rank within 2,000 for MBBS and NEET all India Overall Rank within 7,500 for BDS courses are eligible for the freeship. Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first year course fee including refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000/- at the time of Reporting. The excess amount paid shall be refunded after the reporting is over for all the rounds.

 

MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIP

Candidates with NEET all India Overall Rank 2,001 to 5,000 for MBBS course and Rank 7,501 to 15,000 for BDS course are eligible for merit-cum-means scholarship. Scholarship amount shall be determined based on the parents’ annual income (from all sources) as mentioned below:

Candidates need to pay a minimum of Rs. 10,000/- or Course Fee after deducting scholarship amount, whichever is higher.

  • In addition, all the candidates are required to pay refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000/-.
  • Candidates are required to pay the full first year course fee at the time of Reporting.
  • Candidates should also produce Notary attested photocopy of the Income Tax (IT) return form for Assessment Year 2018 -2019 for proof of parents’ income, before 31 Aug 2018.
  • List of eligible students will be published by 15 Sep 2018.
  • The excess amount paid shall be refunded, after the finalization of eligible candidate list.

NOTE

The freeship & merit-cum-means Scholarship seats taken together is limited to 5% of the general category intake and will cover only the course fee payable for the particular course of study. The candidate will however be required to pay the appropriate first year course fee (excluding scholarship amount). This scholarship will not cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books etc. The award of freeship & merit-cum-means scholarship for the subsequent years will be same as given at the time of admission in the first year. The percentage of scholarship amount will be constant throughout the course duration, irrespective of changes in income group. Continuation of scholarship for subsequent years will be based on academic performance of the students in the university exam as per the University rules.

FREESHIP

BTech CourseCandidates who have secured within the first 100 ranks in BTech merit list in MET 2018 are offered 100 % freeship.

BPharm Course: Candidates who have secured within the first 100 ranks of the BPharm merit list in the MET 2018 are offered 100 % freeship.

Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first year course fee including refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000/- at the time of Counseling. The excess amount paid shall be refunded after the class commencement.

The freeship will cover only the course fee payable for the particular course of study. The freeship will not cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books etc.

 

MERIT-CUM-MEANS SCHOLARSHIP

Candidates admitted to BTECH & BPharm courses from rank 101 to 1000 of the respective merit list in the MET 2018 are eligible for merit-cum-means scholarship. Scholarship amount shall be determined based on the parents’ annual income (from all sources) as mentioned below:

2.     AICTE Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme

AICTE has introduced the scheme on tuition fee (course fees includes tuition and other fees) waiver for economically backward students enrolled to BTech courses. The proposed scheme will be applicable only to the students with parents’ annual income (from all sources) less than Rs 6 lakhs for the Assessment year 2018 - 2019. However, at the time of application submission you may submit the IT Returns for the Assessment year 2017-2018.

AICTE scholarships are subject to availability and will not exceed 5% of the General intake and will cover tuition fee waiver only for the particular course of study. The candidate will however be required to pay the appropriate first year course fee and refundable caution deposit (excluding scholarship amount). This scholarship will not cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books etc.

As the number of scholarship has been considered based on the intake of the particular BTech branch, if any student changes the branch in the second year then he / she is not eligible for the scholarship.

 

  • Candidates should also produce Notary attested photocopy of the Income Tax (IT) return form for Assessment Year 2018 -2019 for proof of parents’ income before the last date specified by the University.
  • Separate merit list based on MET 2018 rank of the eligible candidates under this scheme will be announced in website.

In pursuance of the policy framework for promotion of post graduate education and research in Engineering & Technology of MHRD, AICTE provides financial assistance to the GATE qualified students enrolled for MTech / MPharm courses.

3.     Scholarships for Academy of General Education Students (SAGES)

There are a few seats reserved for students who have studied their two years of PUC for undergraduate courses and students who have studied their three years of degree course (all years/semesters) for post graduates courses in the any of the AGE/ Dr. TMA Pai Foundation colleges.

Admission will be done as per the admission criteria mentioned for the respective course. The award of scholarship amount will be based on parents’ annual income. In addition to the above mentioned scholarship students are also eligible for Interest Subsidy on Education Loan scholarship. 

BTech – Students (studied at any of the AGE/ Dr. TMA Pai Foundation Institutions) who are admitted to the BTech Courses through MET – 2018 will be offered scholarship, only if their general category rank of MET is within 10,000. Students who secure rank above 10,000 are not eligible for scholarship under SAGES scheme and such students, if admitted, shall pay the full course fee.

Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first year course fee including refundable Caution Deposit of Rs. 10,000/- at the time of Counseling. The excess amount paid shall be refunded after the class commencement.

MBBS and BDS – Students studied at any of the AGE/ Dr. TMA Pai Foundation Institutions who are admitted to MBBS/ BDS courses under General category through NEET will be offered scholarship based on their NEET Ranks as per the guidelines. Scholarship is restricted to 5 each for KMC Manipal and Mangalore, 4 each for MCODS Manipal and Mangalore. There is no preferential seat for these courses.

 

The award of scholarship amount will be based on the parents annual income (from all sources), as mentioned below:

Scholarship will be extended in the subsequent year only to those students who have cleared all subjects in the University Examinations of previous year before the due date for payment of annual course fee. Students who were promoted to next year with backlog, will not be eligible for scholarship in that academic year.

4.     Merit-cum-means scholarship for BTech lateral entry students from Manipal group Polytechnic Institutions

Merit-cum-means scholarships is provided to the students admitted to BTech programs under Lateral entry scheme at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Manipal.

This scholarship is applicable only to the students who have studied their three years Diploma in Engineering in any of the following polytechnic institutions:

1) Dr TMA Pai Polytechnic, Manipal (under Dr TMA Pai Foundation)

2) S N M Polytechnic, Moodbidri (under Academy of General Education)

 

The award of the scholarship amount will be based on the parents’ annual income (from all sources) as mentioned below:

5.     Scholarship for Konkani Speaking Students / Students Studied in AGE Colleges

Mother tongue of the students should be Konkani. A certificate about language proof shall be attached along with the application

B.      For Students studied at Academy of General Education (AGE) Colleges

6.     Scholarship Scheme of Interest Subsidy on Education Loan for MAHE Students

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) awards interest subsidy on education loan scholarships to the eligible students who joined various courses at MAHE. The scholarship is in the form of providing ‘Interest subsidy’ by partial reimbursement of the interest on education loan availed by them from banks.

Applicability: This scholarship scheme is applicable to the following category of students only:

6.1 Eligibility

6.1.1   A student can avail the benefit of scholarship under the Scheme during the term of his/her study.

6.1.2   Loan shall be availed from a nationalized/scheduled bank for payment of course fee prescribed for the course. Loan availed for payment of repeat term (casual term) fee will not qualify for the scheme.

6.1.3   The benefits under the Scheme will not be extended to students in instances of irregularity in attendance, poor academic performance, proven charges of indiscipline and failure in the examination.

MAHE reserves the right to prescribe the eligibility norms of academic performance for each course.

6.2 Eligible Amount

6.2.1   The eligible loan for interest subsidy shall be the amount equivalent to the accumulated tuition fee already paid by the student to MAHE for the respective academic years.

6.2.2   The amount shall be reduced by the subsidies if any provided by MAHE in the form of fee concessions.

7. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR NURSING STUDENTS

Manipal Academy of Higher Education offers merit cum means scholarships for students joining BSc Nursing courses. To be eligible, candidate should have secured above 85% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in 10+2 board examination. Scholarship amount shall be determined based on the parents’ annual income (from all sources) as mentioned below:

  • Candidates should also produce Notary attested photocopy of the Income Tax (IT) return form for Assessment Year 2018 -2019 for proof of parents’ income before 31 Aug 2018.

The percentage of scholarship amount will be constant throughout the course duration, irrespective of changes in income group. The award of this scholarship for the subsequent years will be based on the performance of the candidate in the university examinations. They will have to obtain minimum aggregate 65% marks in each academic year with pass in all subjects.

8. SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SCHOOL OF INFORMATION SCIENCE STUDENTS

Manipal Academy of Higher Education offers scholarships in the form of 50% tuition fee concession for top 10% of students admitted to the respective post graduate programmes at School of Information Science based on Manipal Entrance Test (MET). There must be at least 20 students in respective programme for the award of scholarship.

9. KADAMBI SCHOLARSHIP

Two scholarships of Rs 30,000 each for Medical/Dental science and Engineering science is given for the final year students who are good in both academics and sports.

10. ITC SCHOLARSHIP

ITC Hotel Limited has also instituted scholarship worth Rs.3.5 lakhs to the BHM students excelling in operational subjects and for the best all round graduating students.

11. TEACHING ASSISTANTSHIPS

Teaching assistantships are available to meritorious students joining MTech with a monthly remuneration of upto Rs.5000.
