Overview

The department of chemistry started functioning since the inception of MIT in the year 1957 as a supporting department of all B.Tech. Program. Department offers Engineering Chemistry courses for first year, program/open elective courses for higher semesters. The PG program M.Sc. chemistry offered by the department has successfully completed its journey of excellence for around 13 years. The department is also offering Ph.D. program in engineering areas of research. The department gas good infrastructure, enthusiastic, competent, well qualified and dedicated faculty. Our department has secured runner up position for excellence in research through publications, external funds, patents and consultancy for the year 2022.

The primary focus of the M.Sc. Chemistry course is on Organic and Applied chemistry. Over four semesters, both theory and laboratory courses are taught at an advanced level. In addition to this, the course offers subjects like Inorganic, Organic, Physical and Analytical chemistry.

Organic spectroscopy is one of the important subjects offered in two semesters. In addition to this, there will be program electives and open electives on subjects like Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry, Green chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Industrial process and Industrial management, Chemistry of Dyes and Pesticides, Chemistry of Petrochemicals, Applied Electrochemistry and Industrial Catalysis, Green Chemistry, Organometallic Cluster Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Supra molecular chemistry, Solid State Chemistry and Applications, Chemical Process Industries, Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, Computational Chemistry. The fourth semester mainly involves project work
