Overview:

The department of Chemistry is one of the few departments which was started along with the institution. The primary focus of the M.Sc. Chemistry course is on Organic and Applied chemistry. Over four semesters, both theory and laboratory courses are taught at an avanced level. In addition to this, the course offers subjects like Inorganic, Organic, Physical and Analytical chemistry. Organic spectroscopy is one of the important subjects offered in two semesters. In addition to this, there will be program electives and open electives on subjects like Industrial chemistry, Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry, Green chemistry, Polymer chemistry etc. The fourth semester mainly involves project work

Key features:

· Qualified, experienced and motivated faculty and excellent research facilities

· Hands-on experience in handling UV Visible spectrophotometer, FTIR, electrochemical workstation, TGA/DTA/DSC, Optical Polarizing Microscope, Gouy Magnetic Susceptibility Apparatus etc

· instruments like SEM-EDX, XRD, AFM, NMR etc., are available at the central facility

· Most of the students with M.Sc Chemistry are well placed in leading industries in India and abroad.

· Students have cleared the competitive exams such as CSIR-UGC-JRF, GATE and KSET.

Career opportunities

· The department's alumni are placed in leading industries in India and abroad. Some of them are Diageo, Syngene, MRPL, MCF, Anthem bioscience, LCGC, Sequent, Eurofins Advinus, Merck, Shell, ArkGen, ITC, UltraTech, MRF etc

· Some of our alumni are pursuing their PhD degrees at leading institutes in the UK, Hungary, Italy, South Korea, Czeck, Thailand,

· A couple of students are pursuing PhD in NCL Pune, NITK and BITS (Goa and Hyderabad)

· Our students have cleared the competitive exams such as CSIR-UGC, GATE and K-SET

· INSPIRE fellowship awardees are pursuing PhD in our department
