School of Life Sciences defeated School of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS), Manipal, to win the Basketball championship for the first time in the history of our School in the MU intercollegiate tournament held from 14th to 16th February 2017.  Before they beat SOAHS by 32 to 28 score in the Finals, they defeated FOA, Manipal (26-23) in the semifinals, defending champions KMC, Mangalore (18-14) in quarterfinals and MCODS, Mangalore (27-18) in qualifiers.  It was a tense finish in the end as our School was trailing by 3 points till the last minute and finally won by 4 points with continuous defensive steals and offensive baskets. Even injuries by fouls on Padmavathy and Priyanka did not stop them from returning to court to play with the same energy to win the Championship.
