Report on the session on APA referencing

Pillar II, Exemplary Research and Innovation, along with the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, organized a session on APA referencing (citing and references) for the II Semester students on April 22, 2024. The session was organized to introduce the students to the topic of APA referencing, its uses, and how they can incorporate the style in writing assignments.

Ms. Mitchelle S. Lewis, Lecturer in the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, was the resource person. The session lasted for one hour. The introduction to APA referencing, how to cite the resources, the format of references, and different citation formats were explained to the students, with examples related to their subject. The format of writing assignments in a word processor was briefly discussed.

In practical aspects, the speaker demonstrated features that can be used while writing the assignment and asked the students to redemonstrate them. Finally, a few software programs used for referencing were explained, and a practical demonstration was given.

A total of 98 students benefitted from the session. This session was in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education.
