OVERVIEW

Dental Mechanic is a key person who handles all the laboratory work of a dental surgeon.  He is a person who makes or repairs dental appliances.  He shall restrict his activities to purely mechanical laboratory work at the instance of the Registered Dental Surgeon.  He shall not do any chair side work.

 

 

Course Structure

Course includes Theory and Practical laboratory sessions with basic Physics, Mechanics, Chemistry, Oral Anatomy, Dental Mechanics and Dental Materials & Metallurgy.  Basic knowledge of Computers & Medical Records Management is included.

The course comprises of year end examination in each year which includes Theory, Oral & Practical.

 

Eligibility

  • Duration: 2 years (Full time)
  • Citizenship: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category.

Eligibility for Dental Mechanic :

  • A candidate should be at least 17 years at the time of admission & medically fit to pursue the course
  • A candidate must have passed 10+2  or two years intermediate or equivalent course thereof with Science subjects i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized Indian University or Pre-University / Intermediate Board.
