About the Department

The Department of Paediatric Orthopaedics at Kasturba Hospital has played a significant role in the comprehensive treatment of all operative and non-operative pediatric orthopedic problems. The Paediatric Orthopaedics unit has completed 36 years of service. This is the first sub-specialty among teaching institutions in India.

This department pioneered the establishment of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of India. The surgeons and the nurses in the department are specially trained in the surgical care of infants and children. The department functions in conjunction with the Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology to provide comprehensive care to the surgical neonate, infant, and child. All surgical conditions in children from birth to adulthood are successfully managed using world-class facilities.

The department is involved in teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduates, fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics.
