OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

The objective of an LLM (Master of Laws) program is to provide advanced legal education to individuals who have already completed a first degree in law. The main goals of an LLM program are:

• To deepen students' knowledge of a specific area of law.
• To develop critical thinking and research skills to enable students to analyse complex legal problems.
• To prepare students for careers in Academia, Research, Legal practice, or other areas requiring advanced legal knowledge.
• To provide opportunities for professional networking and career advancement.
• To expose students to National, International, and Comparative laws, and to provide a global perspective on legal issues related to their streams.

ELIGIBILITY

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university with minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate.

ADMISSION CRITERIA

Admissions are done based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination & MUJ Entrance Exam consists of written & personal interview (PI).

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAM

This stream is offered by the Faculty of Law in LLM for one year which acquaints the students to the field of Criminology and Criminal Administration. It specially emphasizes and provides an exhaustive understanding of the Principles of Criminal Law, Criminal Justice, and Human Rights, Victimology, International Criminal Laws, White Collar Crimes, Corporate Crimes and their impact on the economy and Society, Police and Administrative laws, and other related subjects.

• Studying criminal law provides a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system and the legal processes involved in prosecuting criminals including the roles of law enforcement, the judiciary, and the correctional system.
• Criminal law provides students with many career opportunities in the field of law, including working as a Public Prosecutor, Criminal Defence attorney, Judge, Social Activist, Blog Writer, Criminal Reporter, etc.
• A deep knowledge of Criminal Law can lead to a variety of careers in criminal justice, law enforcement, and legal services. Studying Criminal Law helps individuals become more informed and engaged citizens, as they learn about their rights and obligations under the law.

The curriculum of LLM has been designed to develop the academic and professional skills of students & enhance their legal knowledge and competencies.
