Dr. Iven Jose

Dr. Iven graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Karnataka University, Dharwad in 1997. He then obtained his Master’s in Biomedical Engineering with specialization in Bio-Signal Processing in 1999 from MIT, Manipal. He has completed his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Bombay specializing in Biosciences and Bioengineering. Additionally, he obtained a Higher Education Leadership Certification from the Global Leadership Institute (GLI) at Boston College, United States of America in 2016.
Dr. Iven began his academic career at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Goa, in 1999 and served there until 2002. In 2007, he joined the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani where he served in various capacities until 2010. Dr. Iven joined the School of Engineering & Technology at Christ University, Bengaluru, as Professor and Dean in the year 2011. As the founding Dean, he played a crucial role in transforming the school from its inception to an internationally acclaimed institution. He spearheaded the establishment of the Engineering and Architecture departments and developed a holistic educational approach that blends curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities. He introduced industry internships and practical learning opportunities, formulated an internationally recognized syllabus, and promoted international faculty and student exchanges.
He was conferred the United Board Fellow in the year 2016 and deputed for the Global Leadership Training at the United States of America where he attended sessions at the GLI, Boston College and Harvard University and thereafter was placed at the Melbourne School of Engineering at Melbourne University, Australia. During this tenure, he travelled extensively across several universities in Europe, Canada, Belarus and China.
Additionally, Dr. Iven developed a unique engineering curriculum with minors in diverse fields and created industry training centres in collaboration with leading companies. He established multiple Centres of Excellence and secured significant endowment and CSR funds while also introducing innovative pedagogical strategies involving digital twins and AR/VR technologies. His efforts have been recognized with awards such as the Young Scientist Award from the Microsoft Research Lab, India, and the Rocheston Young Scientist Award, New York.
Dr. Iven has numerous publications and several patents including US Patent granted to his credit. He has also guided several Ph.D. students in the fields: Optical Imaging, Signal Processing, 5G Communication, Biomedical Engineering and facilitated high placement rates for graduates through a dedicated career guidance centre.
