Soumik Bhusan
Associate Professor
Soumik Bhusan is a passionate problem solver with 20 years of corporate experience. He has tried staying out of his comfort zone (finance) and led roles in the program & product management, customer experience, and operations which added diversity to his experience. His curiosity keeps him agile to solve complex business problems. Soumik completed his Ph.D. from IIM Ranchi in 2023 and shifted to academics. He also a Chartered Accountant from India (ICAI), England & Wales (ICAEW), CISA (US), and completed executive general management (EGMP) from IIM Bangalore. In his last corporate stint, he was a CFO of a retail company where he led the organization from zero to $1 billion (life till date topline) at the same time being profitable. His previous stints include working in equity research (CMIE, Goldman Sachs), publishing (Macmillan Publishers), and retail (Reliance Trends, Titan, Bloomingdales Dubai – Al Tayer, Amazon). Soumik’s expertise lies in stakeholder management, financial planning, business process re-engineering, and capability building. In academics, his interests lie in banking, regulations, and financial reporting. Soumik has been a reviewer in Emerald Emerging Markets Case Study and The Case Study journals.
