Overview

Research at the Manipal School of Architecture and Planning (MSAP) is always focused on addressing the needs of rural and urban communities through a sustainable and interdisciplinary approach. Strengthening the relationships between people, culture and physical and built environment lay at the heart of the research activities. Inculcating greener infrastructure development, conservation, and rejuvenation of the water bodies, protecting biodiversity, strengthening public transport, integrated waste management systems as well as enriching the cultural vibrancy by actively involving the academicians, budding designers, community, and government authorities and thereby actively contributing significantly towards achieving UN’s SDG of Sustainable Cities and communities. Thus, elemental to the approach is striking a balance between economy, ecology, and society, to ensure more opportunities and better facilities, transcending the narrow tunnel of growth to achieve holistic development of the society.
