MAHE Bengaluru organized a faculty lecture series on 14th May 2024 at Room No 401, AB2 at 03.00 PM. The lecture was delivered by Dr. O Grace Ngullie, Assistant Professor, DPP-MAHE Bengaluru. The lecture focuses on the title “Constitution: The Ethical Framework for Policy Making’. A total of 15 students and 3 faculties have attended the lecture delivered by Dr Grace.
Dr. Grace spoke about the importance of understanding the role of Indian constitution for policy making by addressing the questions regarding the nature of a good society and how societies can be improved. This encompasses the political structure that governs societies, the science of governance, and the moral philosophy that underlies political communities. While many of these scholarly works originate from the Western tradition, their wisdom has significantly contributed to our understanding of how to establish a better society.
The Indian Constitution represents a culmination of India's historical journey, drawing on a blend of indigenous and global philosophical insights to establish democratic principles and ensure social justice. By interpreting the Constitution as a moral compass, policymakers can navigate complexities and challenges while striving to realize its ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. This lecture specifically focuses on the Indian Constitution within the context of India's unique history and experiences.
It emphasizes viewing the Constitution through a political theoretical lens, interpreting it not just as a legal document but as a moral framework that embodies an ethical vision for policymaking. This approach highlights the Constitution's role in guiding the nation towards justice, equality, and ethical governance, tailored to India's diverse social fabric.
All the students present in the class found the lecture extremely insightful and after the lecture was delivered, they engaged themselves in a meaningful conversation with Dr Grace asking questions and seeking for more clarity.
