Sarvodaya, the annual day of the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences (GCPAS), MAHE, with different activities by the students and the review of the last academic year was celebrated here recently. The achievements of the students were lauded and outgoing students were given a moving farewell.
Speaking on the occasion chief guest Dr. Ullas Kamath, Head, Department of Basic Medical Sciences, MAHE, Stressed the need for creativity and liberal arts as they impart meaning to life. He appreciated the talent and efforts of the GCPAS students in fulfilling such a significant need. Dr. Ullas Kamath later also sang ‘Jab Deep Jale Aana’ from the film Chit Chor.
Guest of Honour and MAHE Cultural Committee Chairperson Dr. Shobha Kamath emphasised the need for cultural activities in the university environment and lauded GCPAS for conducting many such activities including Amrit Yuva Kalostav, Neyge and Art for Peace.
The GCPAS Head Prof. Varadesh Hiregange said that the last academic year has been a phenomenal year with plenty of aesthetic and thoughtful activities. Ecosophy, Aesthetics, Peace Studies and Art Media are central to the contemporary world with which GCPAS has been engaging for the last many years now.
A film, reviewing all the last year activities of GCPAS, made by student Sampada, was screened on the occasion. The outgoing students Abinaya, Aparna, Shikha Rana, Jaideep and Suprita were given the farewell by their juniors Velika, Shravan, Aakarshika, Chinmayee, Saghar, Gauthami and all others. MIT Joint Director Dr. Somashekara Bhat was present. The spirit of bonomie prevailed throughout the celebration.
