Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design is a 3-year program offered by FOA and its curriculum includes
- Traditional textiles, traditional art forms and design knowledge.
- Students encouraged towards green fashions and eco-friendly textiles and processing techniques.

Assessment
- Two sessional exams and one final exam for each subject in a semester
- Written exam (for theory subjects)
- Formative and summative assessment (for practical design oriented subjects)
- The student performance in each theory course (subject) is evaluated out of a maximum of 100 marks - of which 50 marks are for in-semester assessment and 50 marks for the end-semester examination.
- The in-semester assessment in theory subjects is based on sessional tests, assignments, quizzes, case presentations, seminars etc.
- In-semester evaluation for practical subjects is done by the panel of studio teachers on the works done for the in-semester coursework.
- The end-semester evaluation for practical subjects of fashion design includes viva-voce and practical tests evaluation, conducted by a jury of an internal examiner and external examiner.
- The end-semester evaluation is out of 50 marks, with an average obtained from all three jury members, with each jury member marking the student out of 100.
Eligibility
Duration:BSc (FD -Couture) - 3 years
Citizenship: Indian nationals.
Qualification: Pass in 10+2 or 3 years diploma by the Central/State Government or equivalent qualification from any Board.
Admissions
General Category: Admissions are done on the basis of rank in the Manipal University Design Aptitude Test (MDAT) conducted by Manipal University, Manipal.

Note: Candidates can apply both under General and Foreign/NRI categories. Change of category from Foreign/NRI to General after admission will not be entertained under any circumstances.

The student may take a basic loan of up to Rs 15 lakh. This can be increased to Rs 20 lakh without security and up to Rs 30 lakh with security. The interest rate is reduced from 11.45% to 10.20% per annum.
