Overview
The Department of Anaesthesiology provides anaesthesia services to all surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology, otolaryngology, maxillofacial surgery, paediatric, plastic, neuro and cardiac surgery. Anaesthesia is provided at approximately 25 different locations every day and about 2000 anaesthesia procedures per month are performed. The department also oversees a 13-bedded ICU. A pain clinic caters to acute and chronic pain relief.
Dedicated teachers, regular teaching programmes with periodic evaluation, plenty of hands-on clinical work, multimodular monitors, ultrasound and a variety of modern equipment provide excellent learning opportunities. A state-of-the-art Simulation Centre helps trainees obtain confidence in handling critical incidents, cardiac and trauma life support through simulation sessions.
