The year 2023 is declared as International year of millets by the United Nations General Assembly. To celebrate this occasion, WGSHA’s Department of Dietetics and Applied Nutrition has organizes an expert session on  Millets the "Wonder Nutricereal": A perspective on utilization and health benefits by Dr. Asna Urooj, Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore, Mysuru on January 28, 2023.  Dr. Asna Urooj has more than 30 years of  experience in  - Teaching & research. Her areas of expertise are

  • Diabetes -Starch digestibility & glycemic responses related to dietary management 
  • Natural antioxidants-chemistry, health effects and applications  
  • Medicinal plants -Anti-hyperglycemic and hypo-lipidemic effects 
  • Functional foods- disease specific formulation and clinical trials
  • CVD- nutritional & antioxidant status, lipid profile, clinical trials

She has guided 20 PhD students and more than 80 MSc dissertations. She has 214 publications in peer – reviewed National & International  journals and more than 350 research papers presented in National & International conferences. She has filed 3 Patents and has completed 14 National/ International Research projects.
