Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
National Unity Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel the “Iron Man of India”. Being one of the prominent leaders of the Indian National Congress and one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India, he was a social leader who played a leading role in the country’s struggle for independence. He also guided its integration into a united, independent nation. The aim of celebrating this day is to spread the message of unity, safety and security. At the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration and the Department of Culinary Arts, we believe in these ideals as strongly as our founding father. That is why we have been conducting various activities to bring all students together, while teaching them a very important lesson – “United we stand; Divided we fall”. We have conducted competitions in quiz, collage-making, extempore, screening of Sardar Vallabhai Patel Movie, Inter House Food Ball Tournament and the Skit Performance. The day also saw the students marching to the main University building to take an oath to stay united and strong. There was a movie screening and a skit performance as well, to spread awareness on the invaluable efforts of Sardar Vallabhai Patel and the need to be safe, secure and united. All in all, “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” has indeed brought us all together and we will continue to uphold these values in the coming years.
