MODERN MANAGEMENT OF DENTAL CARIES
Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore successfully conducted a two day International symposium on MODERN MANAGEMENT OF DENTAL CARIES on 3rd and 4th April, 2018 at both Attavar and Light House Hill premises. The main aim of the symposium was to promote the prevention of caries. This event aimed at updating the knowledge and skills of faculty and postgraduate students in detecting and managing dental caries with a holistic and modern approach. This symposium also aimed at guiding the participants to enhance their understanding in developing personalized caries preventive startegies and caries control protocol for patients. Organizing chairperson, Dr. Kundabala M welcomed the gathering that included the Chief Guest, Dr.Poornima Baliga, Pro Vice Chancellor (Health Sciences), MAHE, Dr. Surendra Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor, MCODS, Mangalore, Dr. Dilip Naik, Dean, MCODS, Mangalore, Associate Deans, Dr. Ashitha Uppoor, and Dr. Premlatha Shetty, MCODS, Mangalore.

Dr. Frederick Smales and Dr. Abhishek Parolia, gave lectures on the early diagnosis of dental caries and principles on using ICDAS system and ICCMS for the early management of dental caries. A hands-on workshop was conducted in Early Detection of Carious Lesions using ICDAS system.
The program was well appreciated by the participants and a positive feedback was obtained.
