One day value added course with the theme of “Forensic Anthropology” took place at Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore at Attavar campus. The workshop provided valuable insights into the field of forensic anthropology, equipping 80 BDS students with practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in their future practice. Dr Srikant N, HoD,  Dept of Oral Pathology, welcomed the resource persons and participants for the day. Dr Junaid Ahmed, Associate Dean, Manipal College of Dental Sciences addressed the gathering and  introduced the concepts of forensic anthropology to BDS students, emphasizing the importance of gender and age identification in forensic cases. Dr. Arvind  Kumar  Pandey Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Deputy Director, Student Affairs (Health Sciences) Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka spoke on various forensic anthropology concepts. In this talk, he highlighted that gender and age identification is important in forensics case solving process. Dr Arvind Kumar Pandey along with Dr Sushma Prabhath, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal guided participants through hands-on activity that would enable them differentiate human from animal bones, identify some bones among others. Dr Prateek Rastogi Professor & Head, Department of Forensic Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and Dr Haneil D Souza, Associate Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore both agreed on how important anthropometry was to forensic scientists and provided practical lessons on instrument recognition and Xray usage. The queries raised by participants to the speakers were put across as an interactive session. The Team Oral Pathology thanked all the speakers, participants, and volunteers for making the workshop a success. Special thanks were extended to the Department of Anatomy, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and Department of Forensic Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, for their support and collaboration.

  All the participants expressed to incorporate more practical sessions and case studies in future workshops to further enhance participants' understanding of forensic anthropology concepts.

Future Perspectives: The Department of Oral Pathology expressed interest in organizing future workshops on forensic anthropology due to the positive response from participants.
