Dr. Amrita Chakraborty

Associate Professor

Dr. Amrita Chakraborty is currently working as an Associate Professor with the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (DLHS) under the Bengaluru Campus of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). A UGC-NET qualified scholar, Amrita has a total experience of more than 16 years, which encompasses roles in academics, secondary market research, marketing, student counselling, and operations management. She has worked with leading corporate brands such as Deloitte, Ramoji Film City (RFC), NIIT and IMS. Before joining MAHE, Amrita worked as an Assistant Professor with the School of Liberal Studies (SLS) under Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. She played an instrumental role in creating the curriculum for the nascent postgraduate media programme at SLS. Additionally, she was responsible for bringing out the monthly school newsletter. She did her PhD in Digital Government Public Relations where she studied the Twitter handle of Digital India, a flagship programme of the Government of India (GoI). Amrita has a postgraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Tripura (Central) University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (PGDBA) from Symbiosis. She also has a graduate degree with Economics (Honours). During her corporate stint, Amrita trained her guns in leading teams, managing projects and training and mentoring team members. Her research areas are public relations and social media with a higher focus on Twitter. She has a book to her credit and has UGC Care and Scopus-indexed publications. Amrita is a compulsive explorer and traveller. She loves photography and has a knack for telling compelling and engaging multimedia stories. She believes in the power of Social Media and regularly posts across multiple platforms.
