Dr Himabindu Chintakunta

Assistant Professor

Dr. Himabindu Chintakunta completed her MA (Communication) and PhD (Communication) from the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad. Her PhD dissertation analyses the Telugu print and publishing scenario of the Princely State of Hyderabad by locating the socio-political and cultural context in which the regional elite engaged with modern forms of associational life. The thesis locates modern associational life as periodicals, publishing houses, changing networks of patronage, civil societal organisations and allied literary and political activities. Before joining MAHE-Bengaluru, she worked at the School of Film and Media Studies, Alliance University. She also worked as a Guest Faculty at the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad and was also a Visiting Faculty at Annapurna College of Film and Media. Apart from academic experience, she has the experience of working as a Research Associate with Ideosync Media Combine, a not-for-profit organization based out of Delhi NCR. There she was involved in training and capacity building of community media practitioners in writing scripts, recording their stories on audio and video and conducting workshops in qualitative research. Her research interests include Media Histories, Region, Culture and Communication, and Film Studies.
