Ms. Nishchala, Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, specializes in clinical psychology. She holds an M.Phil. from NIMHANS, Bangalore, and an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from MAHE, Manipal, where she graduated with the highest distinction. Her academic journey began with a B.A. in Psychology, Philosophy, and Communication from Osmania University, where she received the prestigious Mrs. Bhoolaxmi Memorial Award for Best Student in Psychology for three years. Her professional experience includes working on a mental health program at NIMHANS, where she trained Community Health Officers across Maharashtra, Bihar, and Telangana. She also led mental health awareness initiatives under the Army Wellness Program and trained Bhutanese health assistants in Low-Intensity Psychological Interventions through a collaborative effort involving WHO SEARO and India’s Ministry of Health. Additionally, she provided counseling training for Karnataka Police Wellbeing Officers and mental health education for Bihar Prison Staff, focusing on various mental disorders and substance use. Ms. Nishchala co-authored national level Mental Health Training Manuals for diverse groups, enhancing accessibility to mental health resources. Her clinical and research interests lie in women’s mental health, trauma, gender-based violence, and supporting vulnerable populations. Her research experience includes solitude among young adults, elder abuse, and trainer perspectives on digitally driven mental health capacity building. With qualitative research focus, she explores socio-cultural dimensions of human behavior and the phenomenology of mental health, enriching her contributions to the field.
