Tanisha Pramod Shetty
Assistant Professor
Ms. Tanisha Shetty holds an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Manipal. She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology, English Literature, and History at St. Agnes College in Mangalore, where she was awarded the gold medal and recognized as the Scholar of the Year for 2017-18. Her research interests centre around both, the clinical and cultural dimensions of psychology, exploring cross-cultural dimensions of personality and investigating neurocognition and emotion regulation in individuals with common mental disorders. ///// She has trained primary healthcare workers in mental health practices across nine states, from remote villages to metropolitan cities. She has also trained police wellbeing officers in Karnataka and health assistants from Bhutan in collaboration with WHO SEARO. Additionally, she has conducted wellness programs for army personnel and students, addressing essential life skills for primary school children, help-seeking behaviours in teenagers, and coping strategies for aspiring doctors facing academic pressure. She has authored chapters in national-level training manuals on child and adolescent mental health and resources for primary healthcare workers. ///// As a psychotherapist, she enjoys working with adolescents and young adults, particularly within digital-native, third-culture, and diaspora communities. Her interests extend to sociocultural aspects of mental well-being, focusing on identity, language, literature, and the broader impacts of societal changes, including climate change.
