Overview

The BA program, Bachelor in Media and Communication, is a unique undergraduate course that covers all aspects of media, mass communication, journalism, advertising, and public relations. This three-year undergraduate program in media and communication offers a thorough understanding of the media and entertainment industry, empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as media professionals.

In line with the New Education Policy (NEP), a student has the opportunity to study the 4th year as well and acquire a BA (Honours) in Media and Communication (the student has to maintain a CGPA of 7.5 or higher in the first three years to be eligible to study the 4th year).

The BA in Media and Communication offers a wide range of subjects in communication, culture, and media production. Additionally, the holistic approach to media education offers the student a wide array of subjects to choose from. Some of them are :

Admission Process

Eligibility:

Domestic students: A candidate for admission to the course shall have completed 10+2 school level or Pre-University examination from any recognised institute/board, having secured not less than 45% of marks in the aggregate of the total marks prescribed.

If from A levels, minimum 2 / 3 subjects in the ‘A’ Levels and 5 Passes in the IGCSE / GCSE including English. The minimum requirement is an average of a ‘D’ grade. 

If from IB, B Diploma or IB Certificate with three subjects at HL and three subjects at SL with an overall minimum of 24 points.

International students: The admission of foreign nationals/NRIs, however, shall be made based on the prescribed academic qualification and a review of the educational and co-curricular accomplishments assessed by the MAHE's International Admissions office. They are exempted from taking the admission test.

Admission Process: Step by Step guide

Step 1: Apply online at www.manipal.edu

Step 2: Complete the application and pay the fee

Step 3: You will get an email from admissions@manipal.edu confirming your application. Kindly check your inbox and spam folders, and do not unsubscribe the emails from this email address or any of the emails from MAHE. After scrutinising your application, you will get an email from the Manipal Institute of Communication admission section (admissions@manipal.edu) within five working days of your application. The same email will tell you to choose a date for your interview. 

Note: Manipal Institute of Communication admission is based on a CUET(UG) / MECAT test and a personal interview.

Step 4: Confirm your participation in the personal interview and choose a suitable date and time. Accordingly, an online meeting link will be sent to you. Take note of your interview schedule's date, day, and time.

Step 5: On the day of the interview, attend the interview.

Step 6: You will receive a provisional admission order based on your interview performance and MECAT/ CUET scores.

STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMS

The bachelors in media and communication course at Manipal Institute of Communication, allows students to participate in student-exchange programs with select foreign partner universities. Through this partnership, students can spend a semester at a university of their choice. Some of these student exchange programs even offer fully-funded scholarships. The availability of the scholarships depends on the programs offered by the partner universities in a given academic year and therefore subject to changes.

Every BA in Media and Communication program student must undergo one mandatory internship at a media organisation.
