Program description

The Medical Radiation Physics Programme offers specialized training for aspiring Radiotherapy Technology graduates.

As a part of the Radiation Oncology team Radiotherapy Technologists prepare patient immobilization, Operate imaging and treatment modalities for the patient who requires radiation, ensure that overall safety procedures are followed, such as to monitor patients during their treatments and check for unusual reactions to the treatment. They keep detailed records of treatment. Radiotherapy Technologists are responsible for the accurate delivery of radiotherapy to cancer patients.

Focus

Students are trained to gain sufficient theoretical knowledge to understand the scientific concepts underpinning radiotherapy and are allowed to spend sufficient time in a clinical setting to achieve the level of clinical competence to work accurately and safely. The programme has been designed primarily to cater for graduates who will subsequently work in a radiotherapy department.
