14 students from the Master of Architecture (Urban Design and Development) and 3 faculty members participated in the SAAR (Smart-cities and Academia towards Action and Research) compendium. SAAR is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), and the Smart Cities Mission (SCM) as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The 75 case studies from 47 smart cities were covered in the compendium.
Manipal School of Architecture and Planning was among the 15 premiere institutions selected under SAAR. The students critically reviewed and prepared reports of 9 multi-sectoral projects spread across Mangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, Shivamogga, and Tumkuru, under the guidance of their mentors.
