The Department of Ophthalmology at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled "Keyhole Mysteries Unlocked: Cataract and Phacoemulsification CME" on 28th July 2024.
The CME commenced with a session on various aspects of phacoemulsification, including wound construction, nucleus and cortex management, and techniques for handling hard and soft cataracts. The program also included debates on advanced topics such as FLACS vs. Phaco and the use of Toric and Multifocal IOLs. Dr. Deepak Megur, Dr. Supriya Sriganesh, Dr. Vijay Pai, and Dr. Bhaskar Srinivasan led these sessions.
In the afternoon, a quiz competition, focusing on cataract and cataract surgery, was held. The quiz, designed for postgraduate students, saw enthusiastic participation. Dr. Uma Kulkarni served as the quiz master.
