Centre for Evidence-informed Decision-making (CEIDeM)

The Centre for Evidence-informed Decision-making (CEIDeM) at the Department of Health Information, PSPH, MAHE, Manipal, aims to address public health evidence needs in the South Asian Region. It has grown into an international network with global collaborations, including universities, public health organizations, and NGOs. CEIDeM partners with various organizations and individuals across diverse subject areas to tackle public health challenges in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). With a staff and intern base from around the world, CEIDeM fosters new ideas, debate, change, and innovation, focusing on capacity building in public health research.

Internship and Exchange Programmes

The Internship programme at CEIDeM is designed for undergraduates, postgraduates, and doctoral candidates from diverse backgrounds, offering durations of 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 1 year. Interns engage in ongoing projects, gaining exposure to public health research and education on health disparities, health issues, professional development, and community health promotion activities. Successful completion of the internship is recognized with a certificate. The programme is open to international students.

Academic Programmes

Certificate Course on Evidence Synthesis: Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis

CEIDeM, Department of Health Information, PSPH, MAHE, offers an annual 'Certificate Course on Evidence Synthesis: Systematic Review & Meta-Analysis,' following the principle of “Learning by doing.” The course covers every step of a systematic review, providing practical exposure through practice exercises, assignments, group activities, and hands-on training. By the end, participants gain in-depth knowledge of systematic review methodology and develop a systematic review protocol on their topic of interest.

Certificate Course in Evidence Synthesis (Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) from November 07 to 12, 2022 at CEIDeM, Department of Health Information, PSPH, MAHE.

Dr. Anju Sinha, Scientist Consultant, Director, ICMR-Cochrane Affiliate Centre, Co-Chair, India Cochrane Network, was the key note speaker.

Dr Sanjay Zodpey, President, Public Health Foundation of India [PHFI], New Delhi; Dr B Unnikrishnan, Dean and Professor, Community Medicine, Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore; Dr Shirish Darak, Public Health Researcher, Prayas Health Group, Pune, Maharashtra; Dr Neeta Inamdar' Professor and Head, Manipal Centre for European Studies, MAHE were the resource persons for the Panel Discussion.

Dr Sanjay Pattanshetty HOD, Department of Global Health Governance; Coordinator, Centre for Health Diplomacy; PSPH was the Moderator for the Panel Discussion.

Research, education research, policies in education research, translating evidence into policies, knowledge generation, knowledge translation were discussed in the pannel.

Sscoping review methodology; systematic review-evidence synthesis-meta analysis; types of reviews; literature review; refer research articles; journal publications; developing-implementing policies;  journal publications, research articles, databases of journals, articles were discussed at Scoping Review Methodology workshop on 05 May 2023.
