Dr Girish Thunga P

Dr. Girish Thunga currently serves as Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), where he is actively engaged in teaching, academic administration, clinical training, and research supervision. With over 18 years of teaching experience, he contributes extensively to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education, particularly in the areas of toxicology and clinical pharmacy. He regularly conducts lectures, seminars, and practical training sessions aimed at strengthening students’ clinical and research competencies.

As an approved PhD guide, Dr. Girish mentors doctoral scholars and postgraduate students in research methodology, scientific writing, and evidence synthesis. He supervises toxicology-focused research projects and also serves as an external supervisor for international PhD candidates. He is closely associated with the WHO-recognized Poison Information and Detection Centre at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, where he contributes to both clinical management and academic initiatives related to poisoning and toxicovigilance.

Dr. Girish also serves as the Coordinator of the Centre for Toxicovigilance and Drug Safety and as the Deputy Coordinator of the ADR Monitoring Centre under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI). He is currently the Principal Investigator of the DHR Technical Resource Centre under the Centre for Evidence-Based Guidelines, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. In addition, he serves as the Director of the JBI Manipal Centre for Toxicovigilance and Drug Safety.
