Surulivel Rajan receives award at ACCP-2018, USA

 

Dr. Surulivel Rajan, received the best research presentation award for his post-doctoral work from the American College of Clinical Pharmacology in the ACCP annual conference from  its president Dr.John Van den Anker. He also received ACCP-ISOP SIG award during the ceremony held in Maryland, USA in September, 2018.

 

Scholarship from International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology 

 

Ms Bhavana B Bhat, assistant professor in department of pharmacy management received scholarship from International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology to attend and present her abstract in 11th Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology, Xian, China during 27-29 October 2018. She is pursuing her PhD under the guidance of Dr D Sreedhar and Dr N Udupa. Prior to this, she also received travel grants from Indian Council of Medical Research and Center for International cooperation in Science to present her work in Herbal Summit, Chicago in 2015 where she received “Best Young Researcher” award.

 

ISPOR Travel Grant Award 

Dr. Pradeep M Muragundi, faculty, department of pharmacy management, MCOPS has been selected for ISPOR meeting travel grant award to attend the ISPOR Asia Pacific 2018 conference in Tokyo during September 8-11, 2018. The grant includes complimentary registration and travel expenses for the ISPOR Asia Pacific 2018 conference

 

Dr Surulivelrajan successfully completes post-doc at University of North Texas

Dr Surulivel successfully completed two years of post-doctoral tenure at University of North Texas System College of Pharmacy, Fort Worth, TX, USA. During his tenure he worked for NIH funded and other projects supported by the institute. He has written two book chapters in collaboration with a professor at the institute. He taught and evaluated PharmD students at the institute.

During his time he received best poster award in the clinical research category at the university research appreciation day. Dr Rajan's paper has been selected as Best student/Trainee award for 2018 at the Annual meeting of American College of Clinical Pharmacology to be held in Maryland, coming September. He is also selected for best student/trainee Joint ACCP/ISOP award for the 2018 Annual Meeting of American College of Clinical Pharmacology

An Indian Patent was granted Dr Usha Y Nayak, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics and Dr N Udupa, Professor, Dept. of Pharma. Management, on “Timed-release compression-coated tablet composition for chronotherapy of hypertension” (Patent Number: 286353, File No. 2510/CHE/2010).

 

World Federation of Neurology awards travel grant to Madhavan Nampoothiri G

Dr Madhavan Nampoothiri G, Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of Pharmacology received a travel grant from World Federation of neurology. He presented a research paper titled “Tachykinin receptor antagonist, N-Acetyl-L-Tryptophan alleviates spatial memory deficits in Alzheimer’s disease model in rats” in XXIII World Congress of Neurology held in Kyoto, Japan during 16-21 September, 2017. Travel grant included congress registration fee and allowance

ISPE scholarship for faculty of department of pharmacy practice

The International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) granted a scholarship to attend the renowned 10th ISPE’s ACPE (Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology). Research work of six faculty members ( Dr. Sreedharan N, Dr. Vijayanarayana K, Dr. Rajesh R, Dr. Rajesh V,  Dr. Sonal Sekhar M and Mr. Prasanna Kumar) has been selected.The conference will be held during 29-31 October 2017 at the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE), School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

 

OAR-sponsored scholarship for Rajesh Radhakrishnan

Dr Rajesh Radhakrishnan received OAR-sponsored scholarship to attend the 9th IAS Conference on HIV Science (IAS 2017) during 23-26 July 2017 at Paris, France.  The scholarship includes registration for IAS 2017, travel, accommodation and allowance. Additionally, as a recipient of IAS 2017 scholarship, he is provided with a two-year membership in the International AIDS Society (IAS).

 

Faculty wins quiz competition at a conference in Dubai

Dr Sonal Sekhar M and Dr Kanav Khera won the pharmacy  quiz competition at  Trade Exhibition, Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibitions (DUPHAT) 2017  on 7-9 March at Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre, Dubai, UAE.

 

M K Unnikrishnan nominated as the editorial board member of Scientific Reports

 

Dr MK Unnikrishnan, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice is nominated as member of the Editorial board of Scientific Reports, a multidisciplinary nature group journal. Scientific Reports is an online, open access journal from the publishers of Nature. The journal publishes scientifically valid primary research from all areas of natural and clinical sciences

  • Dr Rajesh R, Assistant-Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice was awarded Miami 2017 Winter Symposium Travel fellowship by the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) for travel and registration to attend and present research abstract titled " Evaluation of Sulphonylurea induced Cardiovascular Events in Diabetic Patient in comparison with non-sulphonylurea at South Indian teaching hospital" during 50th Miami 2017 Winter Symposium, Diabetes: Today's Research - Tomorrows' Therapies, January 22 to 25, 2017, Hyatt Regency Miami, USA.
  • Dr Sonal Sekhar M, Assistant Professor-Senior Scale, Department of Pharmacy Practice received first prize for the poster titled “Statin Induced Diabetes Mellitus in Cardiovascular Patients: A Multicentric Observational Study of Hospital Databases in South Indian Tertiary Healthcare Facilities” at Manipal Cardiology Update-2016 CME on Infection and the Heart  on 1November 2016 at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. The paper was co-authored by Sr. Jessie Margaret Saldanha and Dr Ranjan Shetty K
  • Dr Suvarna G Kini secured the second prize in poster presentation for her paper titled, "Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Quinoline Carboxamide Analogues for Antimicrobial Activity"at APTICON 2016, Manipal held during 14-16 October
  • Swapnil Jayant Dengale, faculty of pharmaceutical quality assurance bagged the second prize which was shared in poster presentation. Title of the paper was "Preparation, Solid State Characterization and In-Vitro In-Vivo Efficacy Assessment of Ritonavir: Lopinavir Co-Amorphous Systems' at APTICON 2016, Manipal
  • Dr Krishnadas Nandakumar, associate prof of pharmacology received the second prize in poster presentation for the paper ,"Rutin Alleviates Doxorubicin-Induced Chemobrain in Mammary Cancer Rats during APTICON 2016 at Manipal
  • Dr Nitesh Kumar, faculty of pharmacology received the first prize in poster presentation for the paper titled Liposomes of Silymarin Increases In Vitro and In Vivo Hepatoprotection against Alcohol Induced Hepatotoxicity during October 14-16 at APTICON 2016, Manipal
  • Dr Pradeep Muragundi, faculty of pharmacy management, received Sentinels of Science Awards from Publons for his contributions to the peer review in the Health Professions Section for the year 2015-16. He has been rated as the top overall contributor.
  • Dr Saleemulla Khan, Asst Prof Selection Grade, Department of Pharmacognosy, received first prize for his poster, titled, ‘Chemical in-compatibility studies of an equiratio mixture of Cissus quadrangularis, Commiphora mukul and Morinda citrifolia by HPTLC marker and fingerprint analysis’ in the Sixth Euro-India International conference on Holistic medicine held at Kottayam during 9-11 Sept. 2016. The conference was jointly organized by Institute of Holistic medicine, Kottayam, Kerala, India and Ayurveda Und Venen Praxis Dr. Mathew, Klangefurt Am Worthersee, Austria. The conference was well attended by delegates from across India, Europe and USA.
  • Faculty from Department of Pharmacy Practice, Dr. Rajesh V, Dr. Sonal Sekhar M and Dr.Suhaj A receive ISPE Scholarship to attend the 32nd International Conference on Pharmaco-epidemiology and Therapeutic Risk Management (ICPE), Dublin, Ireland during August 25-28, 2016.  The scholarship provides complimentary registration, which includes admission to ICPE pre-conference courses, conference sessions, a membership in ISPE through June 30, 2017.
