Assistant Professor - Senior Scale

Arjuna is an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) in the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in Bengaluru, India. He earned his PhD in 2017, focusing on Navya-Nyaya and Sanskrit Computational Linguistics, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Amba Kulkarni at the University of Hyderabad. As part of his doctoral studies, he collaborated with Prof. Dr. Gérard Huet at INRIA in Paris, France, supported by the Raman Charpak Fellowship in 2014. Arjuna holds two Master’s degrees in Navya-Nyaya and Sanskrit. He has been recognized with the Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility Fellowship in 2018 at the Metropolitan University of Prague, Czechia, and has several publications, including journal articles and book chapters, to his name. Additionally, he serves as the General Secretary of the Samsaadhanii Welfare Association (SWA). Currently, he is part of a MeitY-funded consortium project titled 'Sanskrit Knowledge Accessor' of 4.63 Crores in collaboration with seven other premier institutions. His research interests encompass Sanskrit Computational Linguistics, Indian Philosophy, Indian Epics, and the Sanskrit language, focusing on Indian and Western logic, language pedagogy, programming, natural language processing (NLP), and translation studies.
