CENTRE FOR RESEARCH ON RESEARCH

Certificate Course on Research Orientation

About the Course

Academic ranking and reputation of a University or Institution rest upon many measurable parameters which include, but are not limited to, (1) Infrastructure (2) Faculty (3) Research and Revenue (4) Alumni status (5) Collaboration (6) Student Exchanges.  Among these, the most important component appears to be research and revenue because it has an overwhelming influence on other components. For example, good research would automatically imply good faculty, awards, and honors, competitive admissions, access to research grants, state of the art laboratories, interdisciplinary interactions, the presence of international faculty/students and purposeful collaborations. Research capabilities also drive revenue growth through IPRs, consultancy and entrepreneurial innovations such as start-ups. Hence, research should be given a higher priority in University.

Spreading awareness about bibliometry and scientometry can drive ambition and quality consciousness among teachers, most importantly the younger generation of teachers upon whom the future rests.  Improving awareness about the ethical conduct of research, publication ethics, quality journals, peer review practices, science databases, and the many devices of scientometry and bibliometry can bring about an attitudinal change in youngsters.
