Leadership Conclave

27th of February: A Leadership Conclave was organised by the Lions Club of Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Kairos-The Entrepreneurship Club of the International Centre for Applied Sciences (ICAS). This event was sponsored by Syndicate Bank and was encouraged as well as supported by the Manipal Institute of Technology. The event started with paying respects to the motherland through the singing of the National Anthem. A Swatch Bharath pledge was carried out to remind us of our responsibility to keep India clean. Inaugurating the Event Mr Annamalai, SP Udupi District identified with the gathering by talking about his college days and the empathised need for promoting the Entrepreneurship Culture amongst the students. Unveiling the logo of the Entrepreneurship Club –KAIROS Mr K.T. Rai, Field General Manager of Syndicate Bank explained about the role of Banks in an Entrepreneurs Life. Prof. Dr BHV Pai, the Joint Director of MIT, Ln. B.G. Mohandas and President of the Lions Club of Manipal were the Guests of honours. Prof. Dr Radhakrishna S. Aithal, the Director of ICAS, was the presiding officer of the event. In his Presidential remarks, Prof. Dr Radhakrishna S. Aithal called the students to take the benefit of the Event and the Club. He also hoped that Club would be able to churn out many Entrepreneurs. Prof. K. Dasharathraj Shetty the Faculty Advisor of the Clubs delivered the welcome address. Dr H. Ganesh Pai proposed a vote of thanks. The organisers Mr Akash Jain, Mr Saurabh Sarawgi, Mr Abhilash Nair (Master of the Ceremony), Ln. Hitesh Gupta, Ln. Shiv Chandel, were present on the occasion. Five eminent Speakers were invited to shed light on the enigma of Leadership. Mr Surendra Rao, an eminent historian, talked about leadership from the pages of history. Mr Abhay Gupte, the CEO of Manipal Technologies, talked about Leaders vs. Managers and demonstrated how Leaders were quintessentially different from Managers.  Mr Satish Acharya, the renowned cartoonist, explained the leadership through his cartoons, which humorously depicted the caricatures of past and present leaders. Ms Anshika Sinha, a proud MIT Alumni and a Tata Administrative Service Manager, talked about her experiences, both in the universities she attended and her career in the Tata Administrative Services.
