Increasing incidence of hypersensitivity, diagnostic techniques have resulted in an increase in the incidence of gold allergy. Gold is predominately used as an ornament article, but is also used in dental restoration. Patch test is the gold standard method of detecting allergic contact dermatitis to gold. A 10 year old retrospective study was conducted at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal to detect the incidence of gold sensitivity and its clinical presentation.

One of the commonest presentations of Parthenium dermatitis is photocontact dermatitis where the lesions are confined to the photo-exposed regions of the body.
